What do you like most about your job?
I am the Group Product Compliance Manager at Watson Marlow Fluid Technologies Group (WMFTG.) I love my job because it is so varied with no day being the same. My role necessitates the use of a range of my skills to adapt to the different challenges that each day brings. It keeps me on my toes!

What does a typical day look like for you?
As I mentioned, no two days are alike. One day I could be reviewing reports on WMFTG products from contract labs, another presenting to customers about the product validation data that we provide to support their qualification needs. I also represent WMFTG at industry groups and help my colleagues to answer complex technical questions. My role allows me to constantly learn about the evolving market requirements and engage with colleagues to develop WMFTG into a market leader and trusted supply partner.

What are you excited about for the future with Spirax-Sarco Engineering?
I am excited because the company is growing at such a rate which presents a fantastic opportunity to learn. We are constantly developing new products to meet evolving customer need, which throws up new challenges for me in my role. I love the opportunity for continual learning that an organisation like WMFTG presents as it keeps me and my role moving.

“WMFTG is a really friendly place to work. Employees are given a lot of autonomy and act on their own initiative”

How would you describe the culture at WMFTG?
WMFTG is a really friendly place to work. Employees are given a lot of autonomy and act on their own initiative. It suits people with a ‘can do’ attitude as there is certainly plenty of opportunity for employees to make a positive difference to the organisation, and everyone is empowered to do so.

What sort of person succeeds at Spirax-Sarco Engineering?
Certainly someone with an eagerness to learn, ability to work independently and adapt to a company that is continually evolving and developing. Anyone joining the organisation needs to be ready and up for the challenge, because it’s an exciting journey that we are on.

How important is diversity at WMFTG?
Diversity is very important for us as an organisation and also to our customers. It is well known that companies with a diverse workforce are more innovative and competitive, they have increased productivity and better global brands. For this reason it is high on our agenda and we are developing initiatives to attract a more diverse workforce all the time.
